Password Expiration Notification

Hi,

I have attempted to activate the relatively new features of:

Self-Service Password Recovery
Self-Service Password Change
Password Expiration Notification

http://kb.knowmoreit.com/how-to/setting-up-user-password-expiring-notices/

Password Changing works and (lost/forgotten) Password Reset works, so I know the e-mail send functionality is working.

How can I test or verify the expiration notifications will work?

What is the ‘Subject’ of the notification messages?  Maybe I can track them in EMS with “Get-MessageTrackingLog”?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

G

You would need to trace the messages using Get-MessageTrackingLog to see if they are being sent. Also the CloudPanel service has a log file it keeps on errors. In the next release tomorrow you can trace message tracking logs from the CloudPanel GUI now.

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for that info.

If I was to use Get-MessageTrackingLog, whould I search by ‘Subject’?  And if so, what would the ‘subject’ be?

If you have a better suggestion for a search term, that would be appreciated.

Thank you again,

G

I would search using that term for anything sent FROM the email address on the notifications settings in CloudPanel.

Thank you again, Jacob.

Well, your suggestion is tough for me due to the fact that we send FROM our standard ‘support’ e-mail address.  Searching on the message ‘subject’ would be easier, I think.

It also made me remember that we use an external (Linux) server to send notifications, so that made it much easier to search the logs.  😉

I determined that the password expiration notification mechanism just isn’t working at all, and I have insufficient knowledge and/or documentation to troubleshoot it.

For me,  I guess the question is “should I just go back to my old method”, or should I keep trying to get CloudPanel to do this task?

Does the new version coming out improve on this new feature?

Is there a troubleshooting method to work on this issue, beyond what is on the KB page?

http://kb.knowmoreit.com/how-to/setting-up-user-password-expiring-notices/

There are, apparently, few users even trying to make this feature work, based on the KB page responses and the forum.

I will pay for an hour of your time for you to teach me how to troubleshoot this!

Thanks,

G
