Merge Two Companies?

Hello,

Is it possible to merge two companies?  If so, how?

Essentially, I think I just need to migrate a single domain to another company, then add aliases.

Obviously, there is data migration, but I can do that in EMS.

And cleanup…

Currently, in CloudPanel, I can’t assign an alias from another company’s domain.  Is there some way to enable this?  (I can do it in ECP.)

Thanks much,

G

Yes you can but it will be a manual step. First thing you need to do is allowing duplicate domains in the advanced settings on the setup section of CloudPanel. That will allow you to add the other company’s domain.

Next on the back end you will need to move the users and other objects to the other company. You need to reassociate them with the main company’s address book policy, offline address list, and set the CustomAttribute1 value to that company’s company code.

Then you can import the missing users into cloudpanel:  http://kb.knowmoreit.com/configuring-cloudpanel/migrate-objects-to-cloudpanel/

Hi Jacob and thank you!

In my case, I don’t really need to move the users as one company is just a subset of the other.  (The client insisted on separation at first.)

So, I think I just need to assign the domain name to the other company, then merge the mailboxes using EMS.

I think you told me exactly what I needed.

Thanks again,

G
