[Closed] Cert Expired pointing to wrong Domain

This is a little weird, I set up a domain called woldcorp.com but made a typo and called it worldcorp.com by mistake, I created all the users and realized my mistake too late. I then deleted the Domain completely and created woldcorp.com and the associated users etc. Updated the cert records etc. Everything was working fine for a year but then Worldcorp.com (whom I have no control over) let their cert expire.

Now when I open Outlook its says the cert has expired and references worldcorp.com not woldcorp.com. The only thing I can think of is there may be some reference to worldcorp.com in the control panel somewhere that is affecting this.

any ideas?

CloudPanel doesn’t do anything with SSL certificates because this will be handled in IIS and Exchange. If Outlook is prompting you for an SSL certificate then most likely the root domain is responding to an autodiscover request (like your web hoster) and prompting for the SSL because their SSL is invalid or you have the wrong certificate in Exchange/IIS

Thanks for the response, the hardest part of this is asking the question correctly, I realize that CloudPanel doesn’t do anything with SSL Certs, We run a multi-name global cert in IIS for all Domains in the cloud panel. DNS, autodiscover, etc are all correct but Outlook is looking for a cert for Worldcorp.com not Woldcorp.com. I’ve looked in exchange for any reference to worldcorp.com but cannot find anything. The only thing that points to all of this was when I initially created it using worldcorp.com removing it then creating woldcorp.

Outlook will only look for a domain if it is in the email address or the public folder mailbox they are assigned to has that email address. I would check the public folder mailbox (if any) that is assigned and see what email address is on that. Also Outlook will cache things so you may want to try another computer to see if you get the same result from autodiscover.

It’s not outlook, it doesn’t matter what machine you set it up on, its when outlook opens it gives you an error that the cert is expired for Worldcorp.com.

DNS is correct, if you go to https:\\woldcorp.com/owa the right cert is there. Add the account to any outlook and when you open outlook you will receive an error stating the cert for worldcorp.com has expired. As I mentioned earlier Worldcorp.com had an SSL cert they let expire and that’s when the problem started. this is beyond weird. I tried calling Godaddy but they won’t talk to me as I don’t own worldcorp.com. This is only happening in outlook.

You are going to have to troubleshoot the autodiscover process. When you launch Outlook it uses autodiscover to try multiple urls such as https://woldcorp.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml, https://autodiscover.woldcorp.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml, etc and one of those may be the problem. If you hold down control and right click on the Outlook icon in your toolbar at the bottom bar you have a “Test Email Auto-Configuration” option and you can see the autodiscover process and what URL’s it reaches and fails on. I would check the public folder though and see if that public folder mailbox (if you are using one) has the incorrect domain name on it
